Oerlikon 35/1000 revolver cannon |
 |
| The 35/1000 revolver gun is gas-operated. During firing, hot powder gases enter two cylinders whose pistons drive the control valve. This rotates the four-chamber revolver drum a quarter revolution with each shot fired. Located at the cannon’s muzzle is a measurement and programming unit. It consists of two coils which measure the velocity of each round, as well as the programming coil for Ahead ammunition. The selectable rate of fire–sustained fire (1,000 rounds per minute), rapid burst, or single shot–coupled with Rheinmetall’s extremely effective 35 mm ammunition, make the 35/1000 revolver the ideal weapon for engaging air and ground targets. |
