History NICO-Pyrotechnik

1949
The entrepreneur H. Moog, H. Nicolaus and Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs leases the former display fireworks plant "Gustav W.C. Burmester – Kunstfeuerwerkerei" and opens up their own business "Pyrotechnische Fabriken Hans Moog – H. Nicolaus Werk Trittau" with 24 employees.
1956
Purchase of the plant.
1957
On the 1st of July Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs overtakes the company as owner and managing director, giving it the new name "NICO Pyrotechnik Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs".
1964
On 1st April, after expansion, the individually owned company is transformed into "NICO Pyrotechnik Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs KG" and subsequently into "GmbH & Co. KG".
1970
Rheinmetall GmbH becomes a 51 percent owning partner.
1978
Starting of global export activities.
1981
Foundation of the joint venture "Chartered Pyrotechnic Industries Pte Ltd." in Singapore.
1982
Foundation of the joint venture "Konic Pyrotechnic Inc." in Korea.
1983
NICO takes over the company "Liebenwein-Schult" in Austria.
1989
Foundation of the joint venture "NICO International Trading" in Singapore.
1990
70 percent of Pyrotechnik Silberhuette GmbH was taken over.
1991
NICO takes over "Pyrotechnische Fabrik Oskar Lünig" and "NICO Pyroprecision Inc." in Canada.
Foundation of the joint venture "Hammergren Pyroteknik AB" in Sweden.
1993
Foundation of the NICO Pyrotechnik, U.S. Office.
1994
"Pyrotechnische Fabrik Dr. Stephan Zaphiroff" in Berlin is taken over.
Foundation of NICO-Feuerwerk GmbH as centre of competence for the distribution of the whole NICO fireworks portfolio. The total number of employees rises over 700.
2000
NICO and Rheinmetall becomes owning partner of BUCK Neue Technologien GmbH in order to create synergies in the portfolio of anti-sensor protection systems, i.e. active- and passive protection measures for Army, Airforce and Navy in the multi-spectral-, IR- and radar range as well.
2002
Rheinmetall DeTec AG takes over all shares of NICO Pyrotechnik.
2003
NICO and BUCK begin joint distribution activities.
2004
NICO Pyrotechnik Hanns-Jürgen Diederichs GmbH & Co. KG becomes a part of the "Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH" in Ratingen/Germany. |
